It's A Winner

I love life! I love living! I love my God, my family, people, and the day to day experiences life hands me; yes, both the good and the bad. Somehow together they mix to supply me with what it takes to grow me up into a better person. I love learning, and one does not learn with out making mistakes. I value those mistakes. Even with my learning curve. It is the mistakes I make in life that produce wisdom in me.

I am happy to say, the art of photography has been no mistake! The art of photography as become my third passion in life. God and my family hold the first two seats. Photography has landed the third. Well, if you love life, then why wouldn't you love capturing it in a frame. My children are gone. They have successfully flown the nest. I'm surprised my heart lived through it. I miss them terribly. I miss the noise, the mess, you name it, I miss it all. Mostly I miss the late night conversations, the inexpressible joy of seeing their faces light up with whatever tale they were rendering once they finally arrived home for the night. I miss those moments of one on one togetherness. Granted there are new joys to replace that time in my life, but it's not the same. My house is emptier for much larger periods of time and I loved it full!

To fill the void, I'm glad I bought a camera when Deserey went to kindergarten. She got on the bus and I said to myself, "There goes my job!" The last one out the door to school. And so the process of leaving began. Since that day I bought my first Nikon F5 DLSR film camera, I have never regreted jumping into photography with both feet, no, not one bit! And I am determined before I die to be counted viably as a respected photographer. Every day I work hard at it.

Last month I was encouraged to enter the Ogden Art Stroll featured in the Ogden Arts building. The show runs through the month of March. I put together two pieces and entered. A few Friday's ago was the grand opening. Man with a drill came home a little early and we went to the show.

I did a dumb thing. I entered the following photo in the "Flower" catagory. That was so dumb. The frog is clearly the subject in this picture. I was even given the opportunity to move it, but I didn't. I do not know where my brain was that night. I do the dumbest things!

Well, It didn't place1st, 2nd, or 3rd, but I am happy to announce, it won the "People's Choice" award. Just sign me happy as a frog on a daisy!
