A DaffyDilly Of A Day

"To bring up a child in the way he should go, travel that way yourself once in a while."

Utah

You know you live in Utah when you can wear snow boots
and flip flops on the same day!
Eden with her flip flops.
Anna in her snow boots.
Both dressed appropriately for a crazy Utah spring day!

First Try At Homemade Chocolate Carmel Apples

"If at first you don't succeed... try, try again!"
(It tasted delicious, now to improve on
the look!)

Lucy In The Light

"Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving.
What you have caught on film is captured forever...
It remembers little things,
Long after you have forgotten everything."

Watcher In The Woods

"Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.
To keep our faces toward change
And behave like free spirits
In the presence of fate
Is strength undefeatable."

~Helen Keller

Spring Clean Up

Spring is sooner recognized by plants than by men.  ~Chinese Proverb

Let The Fun Begin

Q: Why did the Easter egg hide?
A: He was a little chicken!
Q: What do you call ten rabbits marching backwards?
A: A receding hareline.
Q: Why did the magician have to cancel his show?
A: He'd just washed his hare and couldn't do a thing with it.
Q. What do Easter Bunny helpers get for making a basket?
A. Two points, just like anyone else on the team.
Q. What's invisible and smells like carrots?
A. The Ether Bunny
Q: What did the rabbit say to the carrot?
A: It's been nice gnawing at you.

Chalk Drawing Day

"A smile is a light in the window of the soul, indicating that the heart is at home."

Knowledge... You Can Take It All With You!

"A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."

A Weatherful Day

"I only went out for a walk and finally concluded to stay out till sundown,
for going out, I found, was really going in."
~John Muir

The Rain Came Down

And the floods rose up.
The rains came down
And the floods rose up.

And the house on the rock stood firm."

Pretty In Pink

"While there is perhaps a province
in which the photograph can tell us nothing
more than what we see with our own eyes,
there is another
in which it proves to us
how little our eyes permit us to see."
~Dorothea Lange

The Intruder

I snapped the photo and had a look at the image.
Humf... an intruder!
I'm not the only one who loves the daffodils!
"Jingles, get out of my picture!"

"A pussy cat is a lion in the small bushes."
~Indian saying

Spring Is Making Her Debut

"If you've never been thrilled to the very edges of your soul by a flower in spring bloom, maybe your soul has never been in bloom."
~Terri Guillemets

The Heart Of A Child

Henry Beecher said,
"Flowers are the sweetest things God ever made,
and forgot to put a soul into."
I'm not sure,
But I think it's because he ran out.
See ...
My grandchildren took them all.
The best one's anyway!

Just Give Him a Ball!

"Baseball was made for kids, and grown-ups only screw it up.  ~Bob Lemon

By the way... take a look at who's name is on the mitt.
That's a very old mitt.
Notice how the mitt is not worn.
This is a tale-tale sign of how much this little girl loved baseball.
Quote.
"Mom, I use to stand out in the field and hope the ball didn't come to me!"
LOL!!!
Spencer ...you are your father's child!

Ogden 1/2 ---One Month Away

"You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you stop
to look fear in the face. You must do that which you think you cannot do."
~Eleanor roosevelt

Ode To A Tan

There was something sacred about that afternoon ---pagan, it's true but sacred.
The browner my skin turned, the more clearly I understood the sun truly is a thing to worship.
Even with eyes closed and face covered I could feel it sinking into my skin,
Infusing every cell as I drifted in and out of sleep,
Clouds of sun-induced lethargy,
Head spinning with idle questions such as,
What dress am I going to wear to Senior Cotillion?
And...
Why do boys have such big feet?

Sunny Sunburned Smiles

Goal ---Get a sunburn. Everyone who lives in Utah will be jealous.

Men, Start Your Engines

"To finish first... You must first finish!"

The Pilot

Gavin has the heart of a small boy.
He keeps it in a jar on his desk.
I like it when he opens the lid and sets it free.

Sunny St. George ...well, most of the time.

"The family that plays together, stays together!"

Phone? Or TV?

"The saddest aspect of life right now is
that science gathers knowledge faster than society
gathers wisdom."

Everyone Needs A Friend

One man's misfortune is another man's gain. I think I've heard that somewhere before. It certainly is the theme of this story. Kaedell bought two male hamsters and one turned out to be a Fe ---male. Hence seven baby hamsters. Well, it didn't take much coaxing and some very lucky children pooled their money and made a purchase. P.S. never tell your children they can have something if they can pay for it. Kids have a way of earning money faster than you think. Say hello to Oreo!

The Best Visits Are Over The Fence!

"There's nothing so good for the inside of a man,
as the outside of a horse."
~Ronald Reagan

A Family Is Forever

Thirty two years ago I stood in this very spot with Glade. We came out of the temple so excited to start our lives together. I couldn't see the future that day, but I'm looking at it now and I had no idea just how beautiful it would be.

Breakfast Anyone?

Eden hasn't heard about the six food groups.
With her there is only one...

Songs, Sonnets & Storms

"When, In Desgrace With Fortune..."

When, in disgrace with fortune and men’s eyes,
I all alone beweep my outcast state
And trouble deaf Heaven with my bootless cries
And look upon myself and curse my fate,
Wishing me like to one more rich in hope,
Featur’d like him, like him with friends possess’d,
Desiring this man’s art and that man’s scope,
With what I most enjoy contended least;
Yet in these thoughts myself almost despising,
Haply I think on thee, and then my state,
(Like to the lark at break of day arising
From sullen earth) sings hymns at heaven’s gate;
For thy sweet love remember’d such wealth brings
That then I scorn to change my state with kings.
~William Shakespeare

Goal: Pass myself today!

"Don't bother just to be better than your contemporaries or predecessors.
Try to be better than yourself."
~William Faulkner

(Finally, my running shoes are pink! I love pink!!!)
